The non-partisan School Board Nominating Committee (SBNC) plays an integral role in shaping the excellence of the Scarsdale schools. By involving a wide breadth of community members, the SBNC strives to fulfill its mission of recruiting, vetting and selecting the most qualified nominees for Scarsdale’s Board of Education (BoE). Pursuant to its governing Resolution (adopted first in 1965 and amended many times since), the SBNC Nominating Committee judges and selects BoE candidates “solely on their qualifications to serve the community”, not on their campaigning abilities or positions on specific issues.

All residents who are qualified voters and interested in maintaining the excellence of Scarsdale schools are strongly urged to consider running for an SBNC position. Each year, two members are elected from each of the five elementary school districts to serve a three-year term on the Nominating Committee, followed by two years on the Administrative Committee.
